The Power of Faith

By Jalene B.D.S.

The disciples of Jesus were not able to drive out the demons from a child so they asked him in private “why” they couldn’t drive out the demons themselves? And Jesus answered them (Matthew 17:20).

What is FAITH? Faith is confidence or trust in a person or thing; or the observance of an obligation from loyalty; or fidelity to a person, promise, engagement; or a belief not based on proof; or it may refer to a particular system of religious belief, such as in which faith is confidence based on some degree of warrant. (

Faith is believing in something without any proofs. Having faith in God is quite difficult at first but once you apply it to your life it feels better every day. You don’t have to worry about everything and just do your part. I’m a pessimist before I met my first love – Jesus Christ. I’m quite agnostic too for I spent 4 years of my life studying at a Science High School so basically in science the mantra is “to see is to believe.” But after my encounter with Him, everything has changed. I tried to apply it in my life, faith in God, no matter how small or big circumstances are. No matter how bad situations are, He always turned it around for my own good (I learned). Indeed, nothing is impossible. Some events that happened in my life, I can give an account of it. Every time we have a seminar way back in college there’s always this raffle – I asked in Jesus’ name and He gave it – shades, shirts, etc. My classmates even noticed and said that I’m “lucky,” I just corrected them and told them I’m “blessed.” Recently, I passed the entrance exam for Graduate school. I have a little confidence about it because during the exam I felt that I messed up. I failed to do computations on the Math section of the exam, I left 2 items blank because I don’t know really what kind of graphs to draw. On the English section of the exam, I just got some clues on the items and even on the reading comprehension. The person who facilitated the exam reprove me after I passed my answer sheet that I didn’t followed the instruction, my shadings of the answers are quite messy (I just got off from work that time and felt so sleepy). I prayed a lot about it because He’s the only One who can make it possible, I just did my part. And yes, I passed. These are just a few things that I can share, if I would share everything that happens to me this page wouldn’t be enough.

Though there are times I’m a bit pessimistic about this or that still my faith in Him prevails, until now. I urge you to do the same – have faith in Jesus and of course follow Him as well.
